Purpose

We created The Agora Papers to amplify young women's voices in conversations that shape the world we live in - conversation from which, historically, women have often been excluded.

By creating a space for young women to think critically, write boldly and publish with confidence, we are empowering the future policymakers, economists, activists and change makers of our world. 

Our goal is to build a generation of women who don't wait for permission to speak, but who naturally shape the world with their ideas.

How it works

Young female writers from across the UK publish pieces on economics, politics, and current issues. Naturally, due to the interdisciplinary nature of such topics, articles touch upon other fields such as history, geography and the natural sciences, rendering contribution possible to as many as possible.

Following the launch, we aim to publish regularly, discussing a variety of topics, often influenced by current affairs, whilst also aligning with our commitment of ensuring a wide range of subjects are covered.

"Agora"

The name "Agora" is inspired by the Ancient Greek public square which served as a hub for citizens to gather and share ideas, trade, debate policies, and shape the future of their society. Mirroring this historical namesake, this platform is a space for open discussion, thoughtful analysis and diverse perspectives on politics and economics - areas where young people are often excluded from the discussion. As a student-led publication, The Agora Papers reflects our commitment to fostering curiosity and critical thinking that challenges everyday maxims, and shaping the next generation of thinkers and change-makers.
